Budget Buddy (Design Conjecture)
The article, Exploring the Future of Online Quizzes with AI Technology by Saskia Zwaak (2025), explains how A.I. can be used for making and analyzing quizzes within the education field. A.I. technology can examine users’ data and behavior, and can provide feedback. This technology can be applied to “Budget Buddy.” Rather than taking a quiz, users can input data through a survey, and A.I. suggests a budget based on their preferences. Read more about my thoughts on this article here.

In the “Budget Buddy” app, users indicate their trip destination and date, and Artificial Intelligence uses this information to determine the costs of accommodations, transportation, dining, and other expenses at their destination during their chosen time. Users then have the option to budget alone or with a group. If the user chooses to budget with a group, they can invite their friends to the group. Each member of the group is then prompted to complete a survey about their travel preferences. The A.I. then analyzes the responses and creates a suggested budget for the group, based on each person’s preferences. If survey members select “yes” to the question, “Are you okay with splitting up for activities?” the A.I. may suggest that members with different preferences split up for certain activities. Users can then view their suggested group budget and make edits to it.
Certain aspects of “Budget Buddy” should be explored more, such as users who may not want to budget with their group, if users in a group don’t bank with Huntington, and how the group can track spending when users are on their trip.
