CleanMon [Design Conjecture]
CleanMon is a machine that collects or “eats” waste that is found in the environment. CleanMon is based on a machine that cleans up the beach called BeBot and it sifts through sand to collect waste. This technology developed by the Searial Cleaners was intended to remove waste and have little impact on the environment. There is another machine that was developed to clean marine debris from lakes and was designed to minimize human intervention and energy consumption (Patil et al, 2024).
CleanMon takes on the similar form and function of the two technologies mentioned above. It is made to pick up trash and minimize effects on wildlife and human experience. Depending on its location, there would be a different CleanMon sent out representing a different animal. For example, if the beach needs to be cleaned the machine sent out would be the turtle version of CleanMon and for trails in forest it would be a raccoon.
The backside that contains the waste is transparent so visitors can see the waste that is collected and made aware of how waste affects wildlife. CleanMon also encourages interaction by allowing people to sit on the backside.
