Feeling Fresh with Finch
In a busy world, how are people interacting more with the wellness world? Apps like Finch have been on the rise and provide a wide range of self-care approaches at the touch of a screen. In a blog post from Galvan (2024), the author talks about her personal experience finding Finch as a busy college student and some of the reasons self care is so important stating that...
" Self-care across all facets of life, including higher education, is essential for numerous reasons. Self-care is crucial for maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It allows individuals to maintain their health with activities such as exercise, sufficient sleep, meditation, or hobbies that can reduce stress. Self-care activities can improve mood and mental clarity. Taking time for yourself allows you to recharge and better cope with life’s challenges. It can also enhance self-esteem and self-confidence. In the past, I’ve struggled with engaging in self-care but thanks to one of my professors, I’ve learned about an easy and fun way to embed taking care of myself into my daily routine. Finch is a safe and trustworthy self-care pet app that helps individuals feel prepared and positive one day at a time." (Galvan, 2024)
The gamification of self-care and meditation is one of the many ways companies are using apps to bring attention to ritualized care. By taking care of yourself, your digital companion thrives and adds to your feelings of accomplishment. By making care a ritualized act through daily reminders, the user's attention is brought back to themselves. How could a similar built in feature be implemented in the back seat infotainment systems of cars in order to get kinds in on mindful relaxation in a fun way?
