Local Loops Numbers

My capstone team worked together when creating our survey, we were interested to learn about how individuals and businesses within the Columbus area felt about the topic of recycling as well as their community. The NDC team was a big help with distributing the survey, they had offered to send it out to their few newsletter's mailing lists as well as post it on their social media. Between the timeline and technical difficulties, we received 6 responses from businesses and 11 responses from individuals.

We created one main survey that utilized skip and display logic to cater between the individual and business questions. Asking their base level knowledge on recycling and then aspects of their community. I analyzed questions from both sides to see if there were any major gaps between practices or philosophies as well as if there are any areas of opportunity for education.

When asked to check all of the incentives for recycling among a list, I thought it was interesting that among the 8 choices, 8 of the 9 individual responses selected "improving human health" where 4 out the of 6 businesses selected that option. The results similarly reflected towards the incentive of conserving natural resources. When comparing the recycling practices between businesses and individuals towards specifically what they recycle- the answers were fairly similar with the main paper, cardboard, plastic. Metal being the lower from both groups.

For the infographic, I pulled some of our questions focusing on practices and knowledge levels to see if there is an opportunity to increase participation or awareness. It seems like people are recycling, however there seems to be a gap in confidence or knowledge since no one rated themselves a 5, but then they listed many items that they recycle so you'd think they would be pretty knowledgeable. What steps or wayfinding could help recyclers feel more confident?
