Bergstrom, C. (2022), suggests that slow, guided breathing can help children reduce stress by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. It promotes relaxation and emotional regulation during travel. Miller (2025), says spatialized sound can influence emotions, concentration, and calmness, creating an experience that supports mindfulness without relying on screens. According to, SOGA Design Studio. (2025), curved forms and flowing lines can evoke feelings of safety and comfort. This can subtly encourage children to feel more relaxed in their environment.
This is a design conjecture for an in car calming experience which integrates 8D audio with soft, flowing shapes on the roof. The shapes work with the sound to guide mindful breathing. It can help distract children and influence a calm down method and maintain focus during car rides. Something to consider is how to balance the sensory elements so they engage children without making them more energetic or a sensory overload. Overall, this design aims to create a meditative backseat environment.
