Sustainability and the benefits it has on economy
Ecological and sustainability are two terms that go hand in hand. However economy is seen as a factor of pollution cause more or a need for sustainability. So how can economies utilize sustainability in order to help the environment and themselves.
Economic sustainability is about creating long-term economic growth and development without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. (IMD, 2025)
When these three elements work in harmony, they create a framework for sustainable development that can meet the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and social inequality
Companies that embrace sustainable practices are often better positioned to adapt to new market demands and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the green economy, enhancing their competitiveness.
Sustainable practices can help insulate your business from the volatility of resource prices and potential regulatory changes, particularly in regions like Europe where environmental regulations are becoming increasingly stringent...companies can buffer themselves against supply chain disruptions and price fluctuations.
When challenged to do more with less, businesses often develop new technologies and processes that can lead to increased efficiency and productivity in their outputs.
This holistic approach to business not only ensures continued access to necessary resources but also fosters a positive reputation that can translate into increased customer loyalty and easier recruitment of top talent.
In essence, economic sustainability is not just about being environmentally friendly—it’s a strategic approach to business that can drive profitability, innovation, and long-term success while contributing to broader societal goals.
Sustainability has benefits in every sector of life. By presenting examples such as circular fashion, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture, the article illustrates how industries can innovate under the pressure of limited resources. Which in the long run will allow a company to continue well into the future.
I found it interesting bringing in consumer intentions in this article. Today, people tend to look into the beliefs of a company before starting a relationship with them. Due to this fact, it would generate more business if a company made sustainability a core goal as it would retain more customers.
I think that by applying this to my capstone it adds another layer of interest. Initially drawing people into the design long enough for them to learn about the product and hopefully engage.
