The Alpha of Relaxation

The AlphaSphere is a wellness design from "Sha" that intends to increase the level of relaxation attained during a 23 minute session. One spa that offers AlphaSphere as a service describes the product to be a multidimensional approach to relaxation.

" The AlphaSphere by "sha." captivates with its deep blue color and unique design. Through the harmonious interplay of color, shape, and light with sound, vibrations, and warmth, it induces a state of profound relaxation. During the 23 minutes spent on the AlphaSphere, body and mind feel light and free.
"Sha."—whose real name is Andreas Rodler—describes the AlphaSphere as a multisensory, three-dimensional experiential space of sound, light, and motion that combines a unique quality of deep relaxation with an inspiring effect." (Rogner Inc., n.d.)

Additionally, the designer states that the effects of the AlphaSphere range from relaxation to improved circulation and promotion of creativity.

" The AlphaSphere balances: It enables you to reduce stress and relax deeply, but also to increase concentration and performance. Furthermore, it activates your creativity and promotes your personality development. Physically it works on the harmonization of your breath, relaxation of the musculature, blood circulation of the connective tissue and regulation of the blood pressure." (SHA, 2004)

Thinking about the AlphaSphere as a multidimensional approach to wellness, how could other spaces be approached in similar ways in order to reach more users? I also wonder how a youth's experience of the AlphaSphere would differ from an adult's experience. Just imagine taking breaks from long drives or providing a cutting edge level of relaxation to passengers or youths throughout prolonged rides. Thinking about the experience of calm in the back seat, how can we induce a similar level of calm?
