AI Can Calculate Difficult Math Problems- What Else Can It Do?
AI had the ability to solve Millennium Prize Problems

AI has the ability to solve Millennium Prize Problems. These math problems are extremely complex and were originally solved by human. Now, with AI technology, AI has the ability to solve such highly complex problems instantly.

"The Prizes were conceived to record some of the most difficult problems with which mathematicians were grappling at the turn of the second millennium; to elevate in the consciousness of the general public the fact that in mathematics, the frontier is still open and abounds in important unsolved problems; to emphasize the importance of working towards a solution of the deepest, most difficult problems; and to recognize achievement in mathematics of historical magnitude," (Clay Mathematics Institute, n.d.).
"You don’t need to know any math to understand why the Millennium Prize breakthrough matters. It’s proof of AI’s accelerating and terrifying progress," (Cohen, 2026).
"It’s a field where skeptics predicted that AI wouldn’t reach the most ambitious benchmarks for years—and AI has already surpassed them. If that can happen in a domain that requires the highest levels of reasoning, it can happen anywhere," (Cohen, 2026).
"Humans have always used math to understand the world. AI’s progress in math is now giving us a peek at a world beyond our comprehension,"(Cohen, 2026).
"AI models have spent the past few years doing things we believed they wouldn’t be able to do anytime soon. First they couldn’t do basic math. Then they couldn’t do research-level math. They also couldn’t win gold at the math Olympiad or crack any of math’s famous mysteries,"(Cohen, 2026).
"When they did all that, the only thing left to do was solve one of the fiendishly difficult Millennium Prize Problems,"(Cohen, 2026).

"For mathematicians, the developments have raised existential questions—what do you do when you have devoted your life to problems that are now being picked off by AI?—and ignited a ferocious backlash," (Cohen, 2026).

"The summit began with an assumption: AI will become superhuman at math," (Cohen, 2026).
"Their goal was selecting the right problems to work on, like the mathematicians who chose the Millennium Prize Problems. And we should all care. Because this time, humans will have to solve them," (Cohen, 2026).

Reflection

AI is a topic of discussion that raises many questions in what it has the capability to do. I think it is a great tool to help individuals with many tasks, including complex math problems. It can be used by students to solve math problems they may not understand by simply walking individuals through a step-by-step process. Given AI now has he ability to solve Millennium Prize Problems is concerning. Our phones and devices already listen to our conversations enough. So is AI truly a technological feature we want implemented in cars, especially in a family setting? Could a more private technology be implemented, or could a non-technology-based product be used instead?
