As technology progresses, the abilities of humans also become more advanced. One of the newest upgrades to humans are night vision contacts. These contacts convert infrared light into legible colors, but are these contacts as good as they sound?

"The University of Science and Technology team embedded nanoparticles into standard soft contact materials. These microscopic workhorses grab near-infrared light (800-1600 nanometers) and flip it into colors your eyes can actually process"(Edison 2025)
"980 nanometers becomes blue, 808 turns green, 1,532 shows up as red. This could be a game-changer for people with colorblindness, potentially letting them see wavelengths they’ve been missing their entire lives"(Edison 2025)
"The night vision prototypes only detect strong infrared sources like LEDs"(Edison 2025)
"These contacts are invisible, comfortable, and don’t announce your enhanced capabilities to everyone around you, truly representing one of the most exciting cutting-edge tech breakthroughs in wearable electronics"(Edison 2025)

Review

The night vision contacts, developed in China, could greatly change the way people see at night. These contacts require a source of infrared light in order to function, but the technology could be further developed to work more naturally in everyday environments.

Although this technology seems like a game changer, it is not yet advanced enough to be better than existing, bulkier night vision technology. However, it has the potential to become a product that could be used by many people to see in low-light environments and could have many other applications.
