Design Conjecture: Mycelium Lamp Shades
This design conjecture is in response to the World's First Mass-Produced Mycelium Door article in my Business section. The proposal is to educate the public and/or provide kits on how to produce your own mycelium composite to modify outdoor lighting at home.

After reading the article, I kept looking at mycelium composite material applications. As I read, I was surprised to see how many people are doing this from home. No industrial sized machines are necessary to create this material, and it is much more sustainable than purchasing a new lighting fixture for your home.
However, this isn't necessarily an easy process, and mistakes can happen easily. When I browsed r/MyceliumMaterials on Reddit, many posts asked whether they had ruined their batch, and there weren't as many photos of successes. I think the general public may not be interested in spending weeks cultivating their own mycelium composites, especially since the most common mistake I saw created huge batches of mold.
