Digicams: When less technology helps us be more present
Smartphones made photography easier. We can take a photo, edit it, and post it all in one device. But the phone also brings everything else with it such as messages, notifications, or social media. Digicams are coming back for a different reason. They are simple. You take the picture and put the camera away.
Part of the appeal is the look. Digicams have lower resolution and different colors than smartphone cameras. The photos can look less polished and more personal. For some people, that is exactly what makes them interesting.
"I wanted to be present and not worry about my camera settings, how I’d change lenses, or feeling like a nuisance by taking my camera everywhere."
The author found that using a simple digicam made it easier to take photos without spending too much time thinking about the camera. During an evening with a friend, he kept his phone away and used the digicam to capture the people and places around him.
Maybe the return of digicams is not really about bringing back an old piece of technology. Maybe people just want something simpler. Something that takes the picture without asking for their attention afterward. how can i implement this idea to a car.
