Jellyfish Museum

A Ukrainian couple, Alex and Yana Yanovsky, worked in the aquarium business for 20 years and noticed that...

"Whenever they added a jellyfish tank to one of their aquariums, visitors gravitated toward it more than any other sea creature, so they opened a museum dedicated to the gelatinous creatures in Kyiv."

After Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the Yanovskys fled to Florida and decided to reimagine their previous jellyfish museum for a new location in Pompano Beach, Florida.

'So far, the Yanovskys said, the response from visitors has exceeded expectations. “They are fascinated with what they see,” Yana Yanovsky said.'

The ambiance really stands out in why this museum is so popular. The lighting is strategic to create an underwater otherworldly ambiance as well as ensure safety within the space.

The floor lighting assures safety by making the floor the most well lit area while still leaving the rest of the room a dark blue hue.

When I think about the experience of visiting the Jellyfish Museum. I imagine that when leaving the museum my eyes will adjust to the darkness and see a bright flash.
