Spotify Reserves Concert Tickets For Fans
Spotify's new "Reserved" tickets initiative for Super Fans (How Reserved by Spotify Works: A Step-by-Step Guide, 2026).

The Hollywood Reporter highlights Spotify’s new Reserved feature as a notable addition to their platform, reward superfans by minimzing stress and uncertainty surrounding concert ticket purchases (Millman, 2026). The feature is currently limited to select artists' shows and only gives 18+ fans access.

“Getting concert tickets today can feel like a race you’re set up to lose,” Spotify wrote in a post on Thursday (Millman, 2026).
“You show up at the right time, refresh endlessly, and still miss out. Too often, the experience is stressful, unpredictable, and disconnected from what should matter most: whether real fans actually get tickets. We think there’s a better way.”
The platform will use streams, shares and other types of activity (Millman, 2026).
With Reserved, we identify an artist’s most dedicated fans and hold two tour tickets for them to purchase before the general sale goes live. Eligibility is based on a wide range of signals like streams, saves, and shares, as well as location, to make sure offers reach fans who are likely to attend (How Reserved by Spotify Works, 2026).

We’ll notify you by email, push notification, and in “Your Updates.” To make sure you don’t miss it, keep your notifications turned on for live concerts and events, keep your app updated, and set your location in your Live Events feed (How Reserved by Spotify Works, 2026).
We designed Reserved to give you options, so you can buy tickets for any eligible date on the tour, not just the show closest to you (How Reserved by Spotify Works, 2026).
How much Spotify’s new feature will get tickets in the hands of fans remains to be seen, though it’ll likely at least be met with excitement from fans, who as Spotify said, have grown increasingly frustrated with the ticket-buying process as they spend hours in online queues for the most in-demand acts as they attempt to snag seats for a show (Millman, 2026).

This made me consider how a similar system could reduce frustration for rural healthcare patients who may have to travel long distances for care. Patients could potentially be pre-confirmed for an appointment before making the trip, giving them greater certainty that they will actually be seen by a healthcare professional when they arrive. The system could also confirm that the facility has the necessary equipment and resources to provide the treatment they need, reducing the risk of making a long trip only to discover that they must be referred elsewhere.

Additionally, the system could coordinate with an available doctor and provide patients with an estimated wait time, similar to the “queue” systems used by ticketing platforms. This could reduce the amount of travel and appointment coordination that patients have to manage themselves while making the healthcare process more predictable.
