The Technology of Music

Bluetooth technology has become popular amongst the public

In the early 2000s, Bluetooth was a new commodity amongst the public. It was a new technology with never before seen features. For example, Bluetooth allowed for the connection of two devices to one another. In turn, this allowed music from a phone to be connected to a larger and louder speaker, amplifying the music. Its abilities have allowed users to interact with many features of this new technology.

"The wireless technology connects mice and keyboards to our computers. It connects our phones to our cars to catch up on the latest podcasts during our morning commutes and it connects our smartwatches and activity trackers to our smartphones," (Franklin, 2000).

Bluetooth Technologies

"But Bluetooth devices communicate directly with each other, rather than sending traffic through an in-between device such as a wireless router. This makes life very convenient and keeps power use extremely low, improving battery life," (Franklin, 2000).

"There are two types of Bluetooth technology as of 2020: Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and Bluetooth Classic, "(Franklin, 2000).

Pairing

"When setting up a new device, users typically go through a process called pairing. Pairing equips each device with special security keys and causes them to trust each other. A device that requires pairing will not connect to another device which it has not been paired with," (Franklin, 2000).

Bluetooth Pairing

"You may want to use a cordless mouse, keyboard and headphones. The makers of those accessories, however, are going to limit connections to one at a time, " (Franklin, 2000).

"Some devices require a code for security while being paired with another device. This is an example of authentication and it ensures that the device you are setting up that trusted relationship with is the one you think it is, rather than another device somewhere else in the environment," (Franklin, 2000).

Reflection

Bluetooth is a technology that has allowed users to connect two devices to one another. Nowadays, you can connect multiple devices to a single device, such as connecting two phones to one speaker. Who has the ability to connect to these devices? Are multiple people able to connect to a single device and can a system be implemented that allows a family to rotate how and when music is played within a car setting?

There are many parallels to be drawn between the possibilities of entertainment systems in cars and airplanes. Many new advancements are being made in both industries but the push for airlines to improve their systems comes with extreme competition from other airlines and with the desire to uphold the needs

Music education and children's brain development

Music in general is an integral part to everyday life. More importantly, music being present in the everyday lives of children can have profound effects on their development as seen in this study from USC. Music instruction appears to accelerate brain development in young children, particularly in the areas of
